Detling Players

will be putting on

their own version

of the hilarious

comedy “A Bunch

of Amateurs”

written by Ian

Hislop and Nick

Newman.

Ted Price, who performed so brillantly in King Lear, Will direct the play and auditions will be held at The Old School Hall, The Street, Detling ME14 3JT on 5th September 2017 at 7:30 pm. With 4 female and 3 male parts. All ages required!!  A very funny play and it is about an amateur dramatic society attempting to put on their production of King Lear which is echoes of our last play. “Keen to boost his flagging career, fading Hollywood action hero Jefferson Steele arrives in England to play King Lear in Stratford - only to find that this is not the birthplace of the Bard, but a sleepy Suffok village. Instead of Kenneth Branagh and Dame Judi Dench, the cast are a bunch of amateurs trying to save their theatre from developers. Jefferson’s monstrous ego, vanity and insecurity are tested to the limit by the enthusiastic am-dram thespians. As acting worlds collide and Jefferson’s career implodes, he discovers some truths about himself - along with his inner Lear!” John Watson, Chairman For more information call Richard Finn on 07802 316891
